I was watching Valerie, and I just saw this now for the first time.I can’t stop laughing.

This was pointed out to me this morning and I was asked if I had any thoughts about it. First, it isn’t something I’d noticed even though I watched the episode a few times. My only thought on it is that it honestly looks like Artie’s enjoying himself. And that’s what’s important here, ultimately. Sam is pretty good at including Artie, and as he seems to be doing the upper-body choreo, and seems to be enjoying being able to do the lower body choreo with Sam’s help. Mine is obviously not the only voice on the subject, but I always take into account who it is doing the touching (a friend) and how Artie looks (happy.) Also, I feel like it’s notable that Sam is touching Artie’s legs. A lot of times able-bodied people can be hesitant to touch a person in a chair’s physical body. The chair, they’ll touch. But not our actual body. In short, I think this is a great moment of inclusion, and I really liked that it was pointed out to me!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Sam’s had a lot of affectionately physical background moments with Artie over the years, so I’m inclined to think there’s a good comfort level there between them, but I wouldn’t necessarily know if this was appropriate. I really appreciate the insight!
