Samcedes Week | Day 4 (Anniversary)
Mercedes rolled her eyes and laughed.
“We don’t have to—”
“ONE! HAPPY FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY BABY!” Sam yelled, putting a noise maker in his mouth and blowing on it as he bounced up and down on the bed. She laughed more and shook her head. He grinned and kissed her nose. “I love you.”
“I love you too, but can I go to bed now?” she asked, scrunching her nose when he kissed it. He sighed, tossed the noisemaker aside and wrapped his arms around her, prompting her to lay her head on his chest.
“Fine. But when you wake up, we’re spending the whole day together. Five years is a milestone, ‘Cedes.”
“I know,” she replied, pinching his cheeks. He smiled and reached down to rub her belly. She was now three months pregnant and though it wasn’t planned, they both agreed to keep it. They had jobs and were a lot better off than they imagined they’d be at this point. She yawned and he tightened his arms around her.
“Go to sleep, Mercedes.”
“Mm, yes sir.” She closed her eyes and he reached over to turn off the bedside lamp. Before he did, he stopped and smiled at the photo sitting on the small dresser. They didn’t know a yearbook photographer had been in the hallway when it was taken. When he saw it in the book later on, he went and asked for a printout because he loved it so much. That was when they knew everything was going to be okay; between them and when it came to their futures. That’s when he’d been one hundred percent sure he wouldn’t lose her.
Soon he hoped to replace that photo with one of them on their wedding day. Smiling, he turned out the light and lay back, still holding her.
“God, I love you.”
“Go to sleep, Sam.”
